has drawn the interest of the medical community worldwide for several decades. Xanthones (pronounced ZAN-thõnz) were first isolated in 1855 by German scientist studying dysentery. The yellow compound was named after the Greek word for yellow, Xanthos. There are 43 different known kinds of xanthones, but finished studies have only been completed for 6 of them. Powder is made only from sun-dried mangosteen pericarp, instead of being machine or oven dried as most other mangosteen pericarp is currently processed. The gentle sun-drying method takes longer and costs more to process but the result is a higher quality mangosteen product because it allows for all the nutrients -- including 43 kinds of xanthones, catechins and proanthocyanidins, and other nutrition --  to be retained. Even though this method takes longer and costs more, the benefits are too great to use any other drying method. Faro insists on only the best.


Why Use Xanthones Powder?

Mangosteen juice is a very popular healthy drink that many are enjoying these days. The key ingredient in mangoteen juice that
makes it so healthy is the mangosteen pericarp powder – in fact as much as 85% of the health benefits come from the mangosteen
pericarp powder. 

What many do not know is that pericarp powder is not water soluable so the mangosteen juice companies often recommend that you shake the juice before drinking (otherwise you will miss the benefits). If you hold the juice bottle up to the light before shaking, you will see how much pericarp powder is sitting in the bottom of bottle -- usually only about 1 or 2 spoonfuls per bottle.  Because mangosteen pericarp is not sweet, the juice manufacturers are limited on how much they use per bottle so as to make the juice more palatable.
